- Bergheimer Str. 20 Seminarraum 215
- Priscila D. Carvalho, Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro
Priscila D. Carvalho will discuss a decade of protests in the Southern Cone of the Americas, highlighting broad mobilisation dynamics in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, based on a 'protest event analysis' methodology. The presentation will focus on the groups that organise protests, showing that, while workers and students remain core activists in the region, over the last decade they have been sharing the streets with emerging collective actors, such as the far right in Brazil and businessmen in Argentina. Reflections on the profile of groups that organise protests in each country allow us to consider emerging patterns of civil society in the region.
