Alba Segura Lores

Alba Segura is a doctoral researcher at the HCIAS and the Faculty of Modern Languages a member of the HCIAS Doctoral Research Group “Communication and Society in Ibero-America”.

Alba holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Málaga, where she also completed a Master's Degree in Advanced Spanish Language Studies, focused on training and initiation in research.  In addition, Alba is a member of the Research Group “Vernáculo Urbano Malagueño” and she is actively involved in various research projects. She is part of the PRESEEA-Málaga work team and also collaborates with the project “PULSO Andaluz", which aims to observe the social pulse through lexical analysis. In addition, she is part of an educational innovation project titled "La mujer malagueña de ayer y de hoy. Cambios sociolingüísticos motivados por su ascenso social y profesional". Alba has presented preliminary results of her doctoral thesis in scientific journals and at national and international conferences.

Her doctoral research project, "Absence and presence of the pronominal subject in Spanish spoken in the PRESEEA-Málaga corpora”, is based on the analysis of syntactic variation from a cognitive sociolinguistic perspective. The thesis aims to explore linguistic, social, pragmatic, discursive, phonetic, and other factors inherent to the speaker that influence the absence or presence of the subject personal pronoun in spoken Spanish communication dynamics, including the perceptual and cognitive aspects of communication in the city of Málaga across two timeslots.

Alba‘s cotutelle Ph.D. project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Matilde Vida Castro and Prof. Dr. Francisco Diaz Montesinos from the University of Malaga and by HCIAS Prof. Dr. Francisco Moreno-Fernández.
