About Us Karla Ramos Rivas
Karla Ramos Rivas is a philologist and holds a master's degree in linguistics from the University of Costa Rica. Her master's thesis addressed the creation of teaching materials to revitalize the Malecu language among children. She has more than ten years of experience teaching languages (Spanish, French, and English) and founded the center Global Kids, which inspired her book Manual para la enseñanza de idiomas a la población infantil. She has studied university teaching and currently works as a consultant and professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Costa Rica. She has also collaborated with the Universidad Nacional Costa Rica on rural education projects.
Her doctoral project, supervised by HCIAS Prof. Dr. Óscar Loureda and Prof. Dr. René Venegas (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso), analyzes differences in cognitive strategies used by professionals when writing technical reports in Spanish, with and without the assistance of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).

She studies how the quality and acceptability of texts vary depending on when AI is incorporated into the writing process through simulations. The research combines qualitative and quantitative methods and relies on tools such as Inputlog to record writing processes. Its objective is to contribute to the design of professional training programs in technical writing and advanced digital literacy.
