“El impacto de los medios de comunicación sociales en la comunicación política de la cuidadanía”
10 and 11 August 2022, Heidelberg Center Latin America (HCLA), Santiago de Chile
This workshop seeks to discuss international perspectives on communication studies relevant to the analysis of contemporary phenomena and problems that arise with the use of social media and that affect information, interaction, and citizen participation. It aims at creating a space for academic dialogue between experts in the field from Latin America, Germany, and the United States, as well as young scholars in the social sciences and the humanities, to debate potential empirical research approaches. The workshop includes flashtalks by master’s and doctoral students and a discussion forum with specialists and non-specialists.
The workshop is part of a series of events under the macro-theme "Multiple Transformations - Transformaciones múltiples" which the HCLA is organizing to commemorate its 20th anniversary (2002-2022).
Organization: Dr. Pablo Porten-Cheé, HCIAS Junior Professor of “Communication Studies and Information Society in Ibero-America” and Dr. Alcides Velásquez from the University of Kansas (United States), together with the Heidelberg Center for Latin America (HCLA).
